There is an urban legend about Christmas jewels which goes like this:- the soldiers sent over to Korea during the ‘police action’ (remember M.A.S.H.) were sent these by their nearest and dearest around Christmas time as a sign of remembrance and best wishes. They became the ‘yellow ribbon’ symbol of the day and a sign of peace. Today they are one of the most collectible motifs in the world of costume jewelry and one of the most fun. They were/are made by many manufacturers and designers (including yours truly) and include an enormous amount of variations upon a theme.
