Miriam Haskell, DeMario, Eugene, Robert

Of all the designers in this fabulous business, the most mysterious, secretive and desireable must be the grande dame herself, Miriam Haskell. From a small gift shop opened in the McAlpin hotel in 1924 she created a costume jewelry design house of the greatest regard. With her chief designer, Frank Hess they took Miriam Haskell jewels to their height in the mid 1950’s. The most collectible pieces date from this time and are wonderful to behold. Her trademark baroque ‘pearls’ are unmistakeable but one must not ignore the superb colored glass and crystals she used to create many pieces.
