Kramer, Lisner, Made in Austria, Vendome, Weiss

Aside from producing magnificent ranges of jewles for Christian Dior, Kramer of New York also produced lines under their name. Founded in 1943, the firm produced jewels using high quality rhinestones and glass, usually hand set into prong settings. My favourites are the mechanical ‘Day and Night’ flowers. Lisner was founded around 1900 but most of the jewels we see today date from the 1950’s. They are usually great fun and use colourful aurora borealis stones. The firm also produced lines of jewels under the name of Richelieu. The mark ‘Made in Austria’ accompanies many beautiful pieces using fabulous quality crystal and glass stones. Coming from a country renowned for glass and crystal production what else would one expect? Some of the more desirable pieces include ‘fruit’ pins and wonderfully elaborate necklaces. Even though Vendome was a line of jewelry produced by Coro, it is included in this section for similarity of look. Using wonderful crystals in prong settings Vendome pieces are highly sought after. Albert Weiss, a former Coro employee set up his own firm in 1942 and went from success to success in the 1950’s and 60’s. Very well known for imaginative use of rhinestones some of the most famous pieces include the ‘Christmas Tree’ and fruit pins.
